This is a lodging building limited to one group per day, located a 10-minute leisurely walk from Onyado Fukuchiyo. Dinner will be served at Soan Nabeshima, the main residence.
Annex (Bettei) is located in the Hamaganeyamachi district (Shogane district) of Hamashozu Town, a fishing town where thatched-roof townhouses are lined up closely and is an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. There are very few towns like this in Japan, so the Agency for Cultural Affairs wanted to designate this area as a preservation area, so a survey was conducted on preservation measures for Hizenhamashuku.
Among the thatched-roofed townhouses, Bettei belonged to a fishing family that was involved in the processing of dried sardines, etc., which was practiced in this area at the time. It's a townhouse. At the current main entrance, the original hearth remains, and it is thought that smoke was vented to the second floor, where the knots were dried. It is believed that there were many such thatched-roof fishing houses in Hizenhamashuku, but this is the only building left and is a valuable building.
During the conservation and repair work, the thatched roof was constructed using the best techniques of thatched roof craftsmen. By taking a rounded shape with a slightly raised tip and hammering it firmly and firmly, we were able to create a beautiful thatched roof typical of Hizen Hamashuku. On the second floor, you can enjoy the large screen TV and music while looking out at the roof. It is also equipped with floor heating, so you can enjoy a warm and unusual experience even in winter.
